Shawn Klein has spent his life serving Essex County — because it’s home.
Shawn's story
Born and raised here, Shawn returned with his wife to raise their two sons in Livingston’s public schools. As Mayor and Councilman for the past 12 years, he led with steady, compassionate leadership, cutting major crime by more than 75%, lowering energy costs for residents, keeping tax increases below inflation, and strengthening Livingston’s financial future with an upgraded Aa1 bond rating.
Paving the way for a better future.
Outside of public service, Shawn is an eye surgeon serving patients in Elizabeth and Millburn.
He trained and taught at University Hospital in Newark and proudly treats Medicaid patients who often struggle to find care.
Whether in the operating room or at Town Hall, Shawn believes leadership is about service, keeping Essex County safe, affordable, and a place families are proud to call home.
